Recognition Hunger

I am stating some examples for a beginning:
  • Hi Raghu. I am so happy to see you. All fine. All well. I remembered you last evening when I met Sashi.  I will catch up with you later in the day. Take care. Bye.
  • Roshan come here. Please get us some tea. (Not much hurt experienced by Roshan hearing this). Roshan (lovingly). . . . . go get us some tea. This is victimising. The first part gets Roshan to feel nice followed by the second which hurts him.
  • Hey there. Come here. What are you doing? Go down and bring up the guest.
  • Meena. You have made such lovely parathas. I have not had some of these for a long time. You are a really good cook.
  • Hey friends. Pay attention. We will have our meeting going in 10 minutes. Come take your seats in the hall. Thank You.
Social Action: Social Action means acts implying the recognition of the presence of another person / other persons.

Means of implementing Social Action: Strokes, transactions and games are the principal means by which social action is implemented. Engaging in ritualistic interactions and pastimes also implement social action on the sidelines. The most potent and impacting means of implementing social action are games and  intimacy.

Recognition: Recognition is the acknowledgement of another as person. If acknowledgement of another is missing recognition becomes weak. Recognition is a sublimated form of stroke. Recognition and stroke are bipolar entities because one cannot exist without the other. Recognition happens when we are noticed, recognised, accepted, admired, praised, adored, heard, looked at, held, touched or criticised, ridiculed, insulted, punished and dammed or ignored, isolated, overlooked or sidelined. Recognition is effective by noticing the presence of another, establishing a connect by a look or a word such as hi, saying a word especially if it is one of praise (criticism, pointing out a mistake or flaw is best avoided because it reinforces behaviour).

Recognition Hunger: It is the urge, desire and drive to be recognised as persons. When we are recognised as persons the impact is multi-fold. The most important is the boosting of self-esteem. Self-esteem is pride and admiration as persons. Interactions reinforced by psycho-physiological, emotional, esteem boosting components increase the potency of recognition.

Transactions are elaborations of recognition hunger. They involve acknowledging the presence of another, saying something and communicating a stroke. Use of unconditional strokes is very impacting. Transactions promote communications with others.
