For Reference - Discounting

Discounting is unawarely:

  • ignoring a significant aspect of reality that helps in ending a situation, solving a problem, overcoming a difficulty or resolving a conflict;
  • ignoring an endowment such as awareness, capacity for evaluation and for applying rationality; 
  • inability  or incapacity to express one's thoughts, feelings, emotions and opinions;
  • denying oneself the option of asking for help, assistance or guidance;
  • not giving, receiving or asking for strokes; not rejecting or getting rid of painful, hurting strokes; and not doing self stroking;
  • moving to game roles - persecutor, rescuer or victim roles;
  • being over-accommodating, sacrificing own needs; 
  • overlooking existence and significance of stimuli, problems and options; overlooking solvability and change possibilities in matters of problems; and use of personal ability in ending situations, solving problems, overcoming difficulties, facing challenges and ending conflicts;
  • inability to sanely, safely and effectively end situations and solve problems; 
  • expressing helplessness; 
  • expecting someone to come to rescue without asking for it; 
  • yearning for love, attention and praise without asking for it;
  • justifying, professing and promoting thinking, feeling behaviour that is objectionable, unsocial, harmful or hurting;
  • inability to use or recover capacities to overcome compulsive behaviours (drivers) and inhibiting behaviours (injunctions);
